Cardinal Care announces rates for the 2018-19 academic year
Vaden Health Center has announced the Cardinal Care rates for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Cardinal Care, administered by Health Net of California, will continue as an annual coverage plan in 2018-2019. This means that acknowledgement of enrollment in the plan (or default enrollment in the absence of timely acknowledgement), OR waiver of enrollment, in a student’s first registered quarter of the academic year is a commitment that will extend through Aug. 31. For 2018-19, the annual premium cost for Cardinal Care, which runs Sept. 1 through Aug. 31, will be $5,208, a 4.8 percent increase over the 2017-2018 rate.
For 2018-2019, the following changes will occur to the Cardinal Care coverage design:
- The copay for outpatient specialist care will increase from $30 to $35 per visit.
- A $100 deductible, which will apply to inpatient admissions (including bariatric surgery, transplant surgery, detoxification treatment and skilled nursing care), outpatient surgery and infertility treatment, will be added. The deductible will not apply to office visits, imaging, advanced imaging or emergency room services.
- Medical information and assistance services (e.g., medical evacuation) while traveling will be handled through International SOS instead of On Call International.
Cardinal Care plan will continue to provide comprehensive benefits (comparable to a ‘Platinum’ plan through CoveredCA) and in-network care at Stanford Medical Center. We are pleased to continue to offer dental coverage as part of the Cardinal Care package of benefits, as well. (Diagnostic and preventive care and ‘basic’ restorative services, up to $1,000 per year, are offered through Delta Dental PPO providers.)
